On Friday 16 October 2009 two more dogs passed their independent ACPO DRUG license.
Both Stripes and Barclay PASSED an independent assessment with their handler Paul Hymen. After several long searches and some outstanding indications from the dogs, Independent ACPO police trainer, was pleased to pass the complete team out.
Before December 2009 we have several young dogs also going to be assessed by an independent Police assessor.
Barclay STRIPES
GP handler detained six people for drug use over two days in the same place. GP handler whilst out on one of his patrols over the 10,000 acre estate detained three cars and retreived several amounts of illegal drugs. 5 males and 1 female with 4 being dealt with by the LPUs
International Handler completes explosive dog training course
Pointeruk have just completed another dog training course for Explosives.
A one to one course was produced for Mr Meshal Al Zouman who required training to become a trainer after several years of being a explosive dog handler in
Meshal was taken through and re-trained as a handler before producing his training course and was successfully independently passed out by a serving ACPO assessor, who praised both Meshal and his trainer along with the dogs which also had to be assessed. Travis and Diesel.
Meshal shows all the promise of being a good professional dog person and showed a good understanding of English and translated to the assessment team all structures of handling and training from assessment to completion, both verbally and with two dogs, one he had trained and one he had handled.

More Arrests
Pointeruk arrest four males with the help of the LPTs who produced the arrests, after Pointeruk found illegal substances on four males. Although in total 10 people had been using these drugs, only four had produced drugs and with previous convictions, the LPTs on their arrival, delt with the arrests.
Dual Purpose Drug Dogs do it again.
Two of our dogs, Stripes & Tess produced 118 drug seizures in 5 hours, ranging from one single pill to 10 grams of phet located in places only the dogs nose can and want to go, whilst carring out both VS and passive scanning operational orders. They had help from KOVU for 20 minutes who produced 13 seizures of class A drugs.
Although Policing teams watched all night, they had been told by their inspector NOT to deal with drugs, this was due to them not being paid for drugs at the event and left everything to the dog teams, who due to not having the powers for a P1 search, had to let strong indications on both male and females go.
Although down overall from 250 when we had 27 LPTs working with us the previous year, Pointeruks dogs and handlers had to work hard to obtain the 118 drug seizures and both the dogs and handlers produced an outstanding job whilst working in difficult conditions.
ON FRIDAY 24TH MARCH 2009 TESS WAS PUT TO SLEEP AFTER FINDING HER WITH A TWISTED GUT. A BIG LOSS TO HER HANDLER AND THE TEAM.
NEW SITE
After several months, Pointeruk have just gained full planning permission for our new extended site.
Pointeruk now have planning for three blocks totalling 44 large purpose built kennels, offices, lecture rooms, vet and grooming rooms, along with a block of stables.
Once built, this will be one of the largest purpose built kennels for operational dogs located within the private sector, allowing Pointeruk to provide the service within one site for all your training needs and within the local area for all your handler and dog onward training before operational deployment.
Note: We only train Public Sector Bodies and not the private sector.
ARRESTED
After re-training Barclay due to a poor start Barclay produces his first arrest ( well would have been but the police didn`t want to deal with the paperwork) Police failed to attend although three drove by to watch what was going on.
Barclay, one of our own bred GSPs was asked to search a van after the driver was asked to step out of the vehicle. Once inside, Barclay searched the front of the vehicle and produced a positive indication on a bag which consisted of jar full of freshly cut own grown herbal cannabis and three lists of amounts and peoples names and numbers. (street value £400-£500).
The following day, after asking three males to step out of a van, Barclay produced a scan, which produced a further two detained for illegal drugs.
In the passed several weeks Pointeruk and our dog teams have detained over 20 people for illegal drugs with over 80% loosing their jobs and being arrested, all within an operational deployment time of 90 minutes and whilst training.
New Year New Dogs
2006 seen the end of a long search life of our dual purpose dogs Henry and Sport, with over 300 class A seizures on new years eve 2006.
This New Years Eve, seen the breeding, training and handling come full circle, with new dogs Tess, Stripes, Barkley and Kovu working their first large 11,000 person dance event in a joint operation with a Local Policing Unit.
During the start of the night we produced several good finds in the car parks, with the dogs being used for VS and passive indications with substances being located in socks, pockets and places gloves are required.
Moving into the event, Stripes indicated on two females whilst walking into our search area. Both females produced condoms and inside them a plastic sealed tube full of amphet, which also came from pluggin.
During the night we worked with some outstanding ex-military police officers (part of the LPT) who showed the normal PCs how it should be done and how people should be dealt with, which gave the handlers reason to work their dogs harder.
Tess produced outstanding results with indications producing over 100 pills plugged in a female, who was also wanted on warrant and with every indication class A drugs were produced.
Due to Barkleys training being different to that of Tess and Stripes, Barkley failed to produce results and was overwhelmed by the large scale of the event, and is now being re-trained with another trainer, unlike the trainer who left the company the following day. We make dogs at Pointeruk not break them.
